Day 13 Prompt – Lapse

I thought I saw you, again. This time you were standing alone at a bus stop as I passed, warm and dry in my car. The rain was coming down in sheets, and you had no umbrella. Perhaps it was the absence of protection that made me think it was you.

  1. oh, that’s a little bit creepy. A great bit of flash 🙂

  2. You can’t leave us all dangling! What happened next?

  3. I like it. Though, I’m having trouble touching on the right emotion I feel when I read this. I want to say dreamy, but also a sense of forgetting. Not sure I’m making any sense.

  4. Linda, I know you are a busy woman, but you simply must tell us more. I am intrigued now and would like to hear the rest of the story 🙂

  5. It is sad. The statement ‘absence of protection’ shows how vulnerable that being is because that is what had triggered the memory.
At least, that is what I felt. 🙂

  6. Reblogged this on Get on my plate! and commented:

  7. !! I agree with other comments – what happens next? This was good as it stands, too.

  8. This kind of made me sad. Like there was a big sense of loss. Very well done!

  9. It’s ghostly. We don’t know if it’s a mirage or an action. Is the driver hallucinating, like a flying Dutchman? A hitchhiker who stands in the rain, tormenting the driver, standing there open, exposed to the elements while the guilty driver notices, no protection. The theme, no protection. What lives with no protection, maybe a demon? This is haunting.

    • This is what I was hoping for, that the reader would gather from it what the story might be about. 🙂 But alas, since it was requested that I finish the story, now I know how this scene came to be, and now I’m afraid you may be disappointed. I hope not!
Thank you, my dear, for your spectacular spooky speculations! 😀
