Day 17 Prompt – 2053, Somewhere in America

Ionia: It was forty years ago today.

Charles: (peers over the rim of the cup is about to drink from) What was?

Ionia: That I kicked Cancer’s ass.

Charles: I remember that. I wonder what happened to all those people we used to know.

Ionia: (frowns, and looks marvelous doing it) Which people?

Charles: You know. John, Bradley, Pam, Marie, Dean…

Ionia: Charles, they just left five minutes ago.

Charles: …

Ionia: …

Charles: Hey, wasn’t it forty years ago today?

Ionia: That I kicked Cancer’s ass! That’s right!

  1. Whoop… great idea. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. That goes along with my belief. That angels have no sense of time dilation.Good work!!!

  3. …And Rosie! Do you remember her? She was Always late for the party!

  4. Yeah, I would be the one to have that level of memory problem. Very funny.

  5. Reblogged this on Dean'z Doodlez and commented:
Yay! Makes me smile so much!!!!

  6. This is very good Linda. It was nice to be included. Do you have a big freezer since I will 112 then, but still want to be included.

  7. That is exactly how things are going to play out, I am sure. LOL They will be sitting on the front porch of the assisted living facility, Charles clutching his sword, and Ionia eating cupcakes while they watch the squirrels playing on the lawn.

  8. I liked the dialogue – so realistic o how we ‘see’ them speaking. And the memory problem – lol.

Penny for your thoughts (we won't resell them)
