Prompt – Dream – The Coming Apocalypse

Apocalypse?

Apocalypse? (Photo credit: mikelehen)

When I was barely a young adult
Not far yet then past my teens
And I dwelled at University
But didn’t like the scene
It seems to me a prophecy
Arose there from my dreams

Each night I’d have a vision
Like dark heralds come, or tips
Of ways it all could come to be
The dread apocalypse
But nary a word of warning
Arose from my young lips

One time it was fireball
Falling from the sky
Another night four horsemen
Like great statues riding by
The earth tilts on its axis
Till everything’s awry

The sun in supernova
Is spectacularly gold
A tsunami knows no pity
Global winter is so cold
I dreamt them, each and every one
These endings so foretold

In Armageddon there is nothing’
That is comforting or kind
But I think I was forgetting
I think that I was blind
For I didn’t like University
So I think that I would find
All these dreams of great disaster
Were just reflections of my mind!

Like most people, I have a number of sides to me. The most interesting one probably emerges through my writing, hence this blog. I love to read, and also to write, and so this is a way to share both.

  1. Your writing is so very deep and reflective. I really like your style and your way with imagery.
