Pictures of the Past (A Poem – Today’s Picture Prompt)

Pictures of the Past
I’m glad
people have
their precious past pictures.
I don’t.
Some bitch
named Katrina
took all that
away from me
and all my neighbors
and my city.
We have our memories
in our dreams
of how
life used to be.
Not the same
as a picture
to prove
the way
our families were
back then

Take a peek at today’s offerings and many others other than a picture prompt.

  2. Oh Ellespeth, that is so very sad. I have known people who lost such in fires, but Katrina was a whole city’s loss. My daughter was named Katrina long before the hurricane, but we tease her because she has always had her nice way of being such a terror, wrecking unwanted havoc wherever she goes. She is better though, now that she has had some time to mature.

  3. Oh Wow! What a picture, full of so many memories.

  4. Ellespeth, I’m so sorry for your pain, but also happy that you shared this wonderful poem. As you always tell me, be gentle to yourself. Hugs!
