Captain’s Log

Submitted by Misha Burnett for the Weekly Prompt.

I sail these haunted highways
The ghost of something not yet dead
Bartering magic tricks for coin
“Weren’t you here once before?”
“You must be thinking of someone else
I don’t leave footprints.”
You will never know my name
In three hours you will have forgotten my face
I like that
Don’t talk to me about isolation
I was buried alive
On the day I was born

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

And old poem of mine on The Community Storyboard

  2. Very chilling. I’m curious about this person’s name, but I’m also sure I don’t want to know.

  3. The entire thing is beautiful but those last two lines are totally captivating! Well done, indeed.

  4. Reblogged this on readful things blog and commented:

    Check out this amazing poem!

  5. Oooo I loved it! Especially those last two lines. Haven’t you wondered the many people we see who perform for us daily (at the supermarket, the fast food joint, the repair or maintenance guy) and you never know their name…and will probably never see them again..or at least not notice if you do?

Penny for your thoughts (we won't resell them)
