When We Were Young (A Poetry Reading)

I just posted this experiment on my blog – me reading one of  my poems.  I’ve been wanting to try this ever since Helen and Shawn did theirs.  So here’s a short poem – previously posted.  I hope this will work:

When We Were Young

When love was young
we used to make our crowns
out of clover blossoms
and get drunk
from the honeysuckle vine.
Sometimes I don’t
remember that anymore.
But, just now –
there’s a stew to make
and gingerbread cake
in the oven
and the sun will be setting
sooner than later
these days.

  1. This was lovely – beautifully read. How did you do that recording?

    • Thank you, Jade. I had to wait for David and the birds to be sleeping – and, as you can see, it was late and very quiet. I downloaded a free audio program from the internet called Audacity. I wore my headphones while I was recording. I forgot what my husband said doing that would help – but he’s the techy one. The program did everything – even an file extension. I would never have figured out You Tube – which is what I thought I’d use…
I’m happy to know you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading and supporting my work, Jade.

  2. So cool. The recording sounds so professional and clear too.

  3. Beautifully told, sounds fab 🙂

  4. I just came across this in the archives, trying to catch up on things I may have missed. Lovely poem and recording. I just had to tell you so.
