The Human Mind

The human mind
Able to leap and jump
In ways we only dream
Flight is possible
If one thinks it to be so

The human mind
Can stretch and twist
Ebbing over problems
Just give it half a chance
To see what it can do

The human mind
Designed to solve one’s trials
Creating answers not yet heard
Flexible and fluid
The true power of our kind

The human mind
Left to rot and waste
Upon most people’s skulls
Fed repetition
While its potential fades

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. Your human mind created a very lovely piece.

  2. So much potential there…Sometimes untapped.

    • I actually would go with most times. I’ve met more people who demonstrate abilities that they don’t use than those that use their strengths. I wonder why.

      • I was just thinking yesterday about how my math skills have dwindled. I use my calculator for most everything now. After 30 years of working pharmaceutical calculations every day,and then just three years of retirement, I could not even recall my times tables yesterday. I think a lot we just loose from non-use. Like foreign language.

      • Certainly, but I think the calculators do help reduce some human error and help those who are terrible at math. I’ve realized how some people think everyone can do it, but there are those (like me) who are simply terrible with numbers. They don’t stick and they get hazy. This is an example of what I think is a little off with education. Every brain is wired differently, so treating every student as if they’re identical misses some stuff.
