The woman did not hear her husband die

Under that sunny November sky

The cheers of the little crowd were full of love

While an angry man watched from above

Waving hands and flags, spirits so gay

There were others there watching all the experts say

With plans of their own, a single outcome in play

From a bridge, an embankment, grassy knoll…no one can say

The husband was dynamic and young like the land

Walking into the future, greatness and hope, hand in hand

But lo are the treacheries that learned men will design

Arrogant of surmise that they know citizens minds

Be it the lone gunman, a dark man in the trees

Or the magic bullet that cracked through the breeze

It is easy to say from 50 years ago to this day

Someone knew that the husband was leaving Dallas in only one way

I wonder if there’s a man somewhere, still living today

That keeps that death secret hidden far away

The secret will be revealed of this I have no doubt

Depend on the ego of man, who must let it out.

I have a feeling we’ll know the truth this year, I’m afraid that it’s time

But do we want to know what really happened, to take away all the lies.

The woman still saw her husband die right before her eyes

The cheers…rifle shots

The cheers…flags waving

The cheers….life steals away

His hope for us all snuffed out on that sunny November day

About treyzguy

I am so full of self-confidence and crap that I would worship myself against my own will.... Under penalty of death.

  1. Is it 50 years to the day? I didn’t know. Why do you think we would know this year? You’re probably right about the ego driving revelation.
    Great poem. :)x

  2. Really captures the event with a sense of mystery. Before my time, so all I have are the stories and conspiracy theories to go by.
