A to Z April Challenge 2014

Hi, Rosie here to tell you a bit about the A to Z April Challenge. Don’t worry this isn’t the next Community Storyboard Challenge it is, however, about writing.

So what is the A to Z Challenge? Its 26 blogs using the letters of the Alphabet all through April taking Sundays off. It’s a chance to find new friends, get new followers and promote your work and your blog content across the world. Anyone with a blog can sign up and take part.

This will be the 5th Year of the challenge first introduced by Arlee Bird in 2010 and it has grown in success each year. Last year over 1600 bloggers entered and during the challenge we are encouraged to visit as many of the participants as we can and leave comments. I think it is a fantastic opportunity to expand your blogging world. It’s totally free to join up, and there is plenty of helpful information on the site to help you get organised.

There are banners and signs like the one above which you can put on your blog and there is a Facebook group and Twitter account. There are useful Twitter Hashtags which help promote posts and get the community behind you. During the lead up to April and during the tour hosts and co-hosts try to visit your blog to see how it’s all going and part of the community spirit during the challenge encourages other bloggers to visit at least 5 different blogs each day of the tour and leave a comment. In fact part of the tour ethos is to increase comments on blogs rather than just hitting the like button and moving on which I know we are all guilty of doing at times. Find out more at http://www.a-to-zchallenge.com/

For my own challenge, I like to keep with the book theme from my blog, I will promote books following the A to Z pattern using the book titles. Authors will see their book cover and book description, author picture, plus I’ll let them promote where readers can find them on social networks and more importantly where readers can buy the book. I will then appreciate all help with the promotional posts from the individual participants on all their social network sites. Here is a link to my own promotional post about the challenge. There you will find what letters are still available to authors and writers. I try to update is daily as I get new bookings. http://wp.me/P2Eu3u-j4

So why not take up the challenge yourself or help me fill my own book themed tour.

Thanks,

Rosie
