Fairy Tales

Fairy tales and story books,

And all the tales we’re told,

Battles fought by knights of old,

And warriors brave and bold.

Tales of love and kindred spirits,

Poisoned apples, missing slippers.

Tales that tell of fairy maidens,

Ogres, witches, black eyed ravens.

Tales of greed and secret woes,

Wicked aunts and hidden foes.

Island castles, tree top homes,

Swinging ropes and bevelled domes.

Tales that sing of daring deeds,

Quests and maps and magic seeds,

Hidden chests and demon’s lairs,

Buried gold and dragon slayers.

Tales that fill our childhood dreams,

Night-time travels, silent screams.

Waking wishes we keep hold,

To visit with those tales of old.

About helenmidgley

Helen Midgley likes to think of herself as a cross between Dawn French and Kate Moss. She has been in the witness protection programme for a number of years and once lived in Brighton as a bearded mechanic called Dave! Her current incarnation is as a part-time Journalism & Media tutor at a small FE College in Yorkshire. She has survived cancer, dandruff and athlete’s foot and has a penchant for black humour and red wine.
