Wanting the World to Freeze

Have you ever wanted the world to freeze?
Leaving you the only one
Even for a precious day
Where solitude and silence are yours
No demands and responsibilities
Besides food and drink and rest
Everyone a statue trapped in stasis
Never judging what you do

Have you ever wanted the world to freeze?
To get that precious taste of nothing
The loudness of reality held in time
For any length you wish
Recovering sanity and confidence
That have eroded from the daily grind
Rebuilding the strength of mind
To return to the crushing fray

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. This is so lovely. Your writing style is very different to mine, but this reminds me of something I wrote a week or two ago.

  2. So, do you? Because it has frozen this year. I’ve lost weeks it seems because I don’t go anywhere or do anything

  3. Yeah but I usually want you to be warm.

  4. Sigh. Is THAT the sound of silence? 😉

  5. Yeah I have. Thoughts like this come around when the weather is so cold.

  6. I often feel this way at work 😉 Kidding aside (well, not really kidding), I love how your poem evokes that desire for silence and solitude and space.

  7. Nope. Too scary 😀
    Great poem, Charles!

Penny for your thoughts (we won't resell them)
