First Time for Everything

(Done off the cuff and half asleep.)

“Are you sure you know what you’re doing, Roy?”

“Of course, I’ve done this plenty of times, Jackson.”

“All I’m thinking is that there are a lot of wires and that generator is pretty big.  One slip and the entire building can explode.”

“You’re exaggerating out of stress and fear.  You can’t do this job if you worry about the worst case scenario.  I’ve repaired these things so many times that I can do it with my eyes closed.  Though I wouldn’t recommend it.  Look, Jackson, we’ve been maintaining the generators for twenty years and nothing has ever gone that wrong.  The barriers and guns keep the plants at bay, so humanity can survive in here.  We hold a very important job . . . why are you staring at me?”

“Your water just feel into the wiring, Roy.  In fact, I’m pretty sure the back of your suit is on fire.”

“1o MINUTES UNTIL GENERATOR SHUTDOWN!”

“Well . . . guess there’s a first time for everything.”

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. It’s those half asleep/half awake writings that try to tell us something.
