For As Long As The Music Plays

Submitted by Russ Towne

It was their first slow dance together. He’d waited a long time for this moment. He looked her in the eyes and said, “I love you.”

She leaned toward him and whispered in his ear, “I’ll love you for as long as the music plays.”

His heart broke a little at her words. He wished the dance would go on forever, but, less than three minutes later, it ended. He looked at her with sad eyes, nodded, and turned to walk away.

She reached for his hand, locked her eyes on his, and whispered, “The music is still playing in my heart.”

It kept playing for the rest of their lives.

About Charles Yallowitz

Charles E. Yallowitz was born, raised, and educated in New York. Then he spent a few years in Florida, realized his fear of alligators, and moved back to the Empire State. When he isn't working hard on his epic fantasy stories, Charles can be found cooking or going on whatever adventure his son has planned for the day. 'Legends of Windemere' is his first series, but it certainly won't be his last.

  1. That was beautiful! It reminded me of my parents and brought tears to my eyes!

  2. Thank you for your kind compliment, quiall. As a writer, I love when readers are touched by my creations, and especially delighted when the experience is so powerful that tears fall, whether tears of joy or healing tears.
