Just beneath the surface

Just beneath the surface
Is where emotions lie
A knowing glance
Dooming tick-tock
The never ending sound
Of a mournful clock

Just beneath the surface
Of the covers where we lie
Spent from hours of private love
Moments just between you and I

Just beneath the surface
Of the dark and rolling waves
Feeling the loss of oxygen
And calling out your name

Just beneath the surface
Is a world for you and I
A matter of time and patience
Not possessed by this heart of mine

Just beneath the surface
But clear for all to see
A separation of a soul
That distance will now cleave

But just beneath that surface
Memories float and flurry
A begging of the clock
For time and fate to hurry

About Ionia Froment

book blogger and reviewer, mother of four boys, classical pianist and amateur photographer. I love reading, writing, music and learning to cook new and unusual dishes. You can usually find me with my nose buried in a book unless I have the opportunity to be walking on the beach collecting seashells:)
